Specialist project management consultancy 3SixtyConsult has announced the successful handover of Komatsu’s regional headquarters, one of the largest warehousing and training facilities for Komatsu outside of the Japanese company’s home market.
McLaren construction international was awarded the design and build project by 3SixtyConsult and the client DP World, UAE Region. The project involved co-ordinating the requirements of multiple stakeholders located in both the UAE and Japan.
3SixtyConsult worked with Komatsu and DP World, UAE Region to develop the initial concept design and subsequently compile the tender for issuance to the market, ensuring the design emulated Komatsu’s existing flagship facilities in Japan, while also including the advanced technical requirements of such a facility. As the main contractor, McLaren took the initial concept design and developed it in line with end-user requirements and local regulations. The project was delivered to an extremely high quality and standard in the short time period of one year from commencement to completion.
The 17,000m2 facility will allow Komatsu to showcase its heavy machinery to the Middle Eastern market and provide a high standard of training for its operatives and servicing teams, while also functioning as its regional parts distribution hub. The facility includes a warehouse, training centre, office, and a machine demonstration area with a viewing stand.
